Canva keyboard shortcuts

Canva is a browser-based design tool for social posts, presentations, flyers, and quick marketing graphics. It hides a surprisingly complete set of keyboard shortcuts behind its drag-and-drop interface: single keys drop in elements, and familiar combinations handle grouping, layering, and text styling so repetitive design work goes much faster. This cheat sheet covers 50 default shortcuts for Windows and Mac.

Canva shortcut FAQs

Does Canva have keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Single keys like T, R, C, and L drop in text and shapes, and standard combinations handle copy, group, layer order, and text styling. Pressing / opens a search for anything else.
How do I add a text box in Canva with the keyboard?
Press T anywhere in the editor to add a text box at the center of the page, then just start typing.
How do I move an element behind another in Canva?
Select it and press Ctrl+[ to send it backward or Ctrl+] to bring it forward (Cmd on Mac). Add Alt/Option to jump all the way to the back or front.
How do I lock an element in Canva so I stop selecting it by accident?
Select the element and press Alt+Shift+L (Option+Shift+L on Mac). The same shortcut unlocks it again.
Do I need to save manually in Canva?
Canva autosaves continuously, but Ctrl+S (Cmd+S) forces an immediate save, which is reassuring right before closing the tab or losing connectivity.
