Microsoft Teams keyboard shortcuts

Microsoft Teams is the chat, meetings, and collaboration hub used across most Microsoft 365 workplaces. Between jumping in and out of calls, replying to threads, and hunting for messages, the mouse quickly becomes the bottleneck. These default shortcuts cover navigation, messaging, and meeting controls so you can mute, reply, and switch contexts without breaking flow. This cheat sheet covers 49 default shortcuts for Windows and Mac.

Put your top Microsoft Teams shortcuts on real keys

The five Microsoft Teams actions most worth binding to a physical macropad key:

Ctrl+Shift+MCmd+Shift+M Toggle mute The single most-pressed key in any meeting day; a dedicated physical mute key removes all fumbling.
Ctrl+Shift+OCmd+Shift+O Toggle video Camera on/off is the second reflex action in every call and deserves one press.
Ctrl+Shift+KCmd+Shift+K Raise or lower your hand Lets you signal instantly in large meetings without hunting for the toolbar.
Ctrl+Shift+HCmd+Shift+H Hang up One physical key to leave any call cleanly, ideal for back-to-back meeting days.
Ctrl+ECmd+E Go to Search Every person, chat, and file lookup in Teams starts here, dozens of times a day.

Microsoft Teams shortcut FAQs

How do I mute myself quickly in a Microsoft Teams meeting?
Press Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows or Cmd+Shift+M on Mac to toggle your microphone. You can also hold Ctrl+Space (Option+Space on Mac) to temporarily unmute while muted, like push to talk.
How do I see all keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Teams?
Press Ctrl+Period on Windows or Cmd+Period on Mac to open the full shortcuts list inside Teams. You can also type /keys in the search bar.
Why does Enter send my message instead of adding a new line?
Enter sends by default in Teams. Press Shift+Enter to add a new line, or expand the compose box with Ctrl+Shift+X (Cmd+Shift+X on Mac), where Enter adds lines and Ctrl+Enter sends.
Can I change keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Teams?
No, Teams does not support custom keyboard shortcuts. The defaults listed here are fixed, though a few differ between the desktop app and the web version.
How do I switch between Chat, Teams, and Calendar without the mouse?
Use Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+5 on Windows (Cmd+1 through Cmd+5 on Mac) to jump directly to Activity, Chat, Teams, Calendar, and Calls in the left navigation bar.
